BORG BARTOLO. On October 20, JEAN, née Anastasi Pace, aged 78, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Alex, her children Niki and her husband Simon Camilleri and Joe and his wife Anna, her grandchildren Tina and her fiancée Simon Psaila, Tessa and Luca, her sister Sonia Camilleri and brother Tom Anastasi Pace and his wife Vourneen and all her nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said on Monday, October 23 at 8.45am at St Gregory parish church, Sliema, followed by interment in the family chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at St James Capua Hospital and Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, Mater Dei Hospital, for their care and support.

PARRY. On October 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, LUCIA EMMA, surrounded by the family she so dearly cherished, peacefully departed this life to meet the Risen Lord and reunite with her parents Domenic and Carmen Dimech in His eternal embrace. Remembering her love and the happiness she so easily instilled in those around her are, her husband Colin, her daughter Caroline and her partner Mark, her grandson Matthias, her sisters Margaret and her husband Alfred Frendo and Marie, widow of Edward Wigg, her nieces Donatella and her husband Mark, Romina, Danielle and her husband Christopher Stutt, nephews Abi and Rajeev, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, October 20, for the old St Venera parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA. On October 18, ANTHONY of Ħamrun, widower of Maria Stella, aged 99, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Louis and his wife Joyce, Michael and his wife Joan of Canada, and Claire and her husband Ian Craig of Australia, his grandsons and great-grandchildren, his sister Ann Zammit, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Saturday, October 21, at 8.15am at the Immaculate Conception parish church, Ħamrun, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank all doctors and staff at Mtarfa home for the elderly for their care and support.

ARNETT. In loving memory of HUGH on the second anniversary of his calling to eternal life. Fondly remembered by his loving wife Eve, his daughters Suzanne and Nikki, his grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends. Lord, grant him eternal rest. A Mass will be said on Sunday, October 22, at 11.30am at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, Naxxar. All who knew him are welcome. His memory is as dear today, as the hour he passed away.

CASSAR TRIGONA – GODFREY ANTHONY. Lovingly remembered and so sadly missed. Odette, Edwina and Paul, Lucienne and Edwin, Claire, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all the family. May he rest in peace.

Guided tour of Fort St Elmo tomorrow

A guided tour of Fort St Elmo is being held by Heritage Malta tomorrow. Besides exploring the fort, visitors will also be able to view the start of the sailing offshore Middle Sea Race.

Fort St Elmo, built in 1552 before Valletta was even conceived, occupies a strategic position at the tip of the Sceberras peninsula, keeping watch over the mouths of Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour.

Over the centuries, additions and alterations were carried out to the fort, the latest during the British period.
