Our politicians have recently entertained us by competing as to who honoured or chummed up the least to the vile and vicious dictator next door to us in Libya.

This political exercise is puerile and all of us should just yell out loud to our politicians to quit fooling around. They should just draw up and pass a joint resolution in Parliament stating that no honours or decorations can be accorded by Malta to any person pertaining to a country or government which does not have a democratic system of government. This is to exclude, of course, those persons in non-democratic countries who stand up to dictatorial regimes, such as the renowned Lady of Burma.
