Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar, has launched a summer work experience programme enabling a number of its biology, chemistry and history students to work four hours a day during summer in various institutions. The organisations include Mater Dei and Mount Carmel hospitals, health centres, the Blood Bank, the National Archives and private companies such as Andrews Feeds (Malta) Ltd and Malta Dairy Products Ltd.

During their work placements the students will prepare a portfolio to help them learn from the experience and assess their future career path. School head Gaetano Calleja said: “We are giving our students the opportunity to learn how to work in teams, understand the meaning of deadlines and get a taste of work culture by interacting with other workers and clients.” He added that the experience will help the students mature and make them better decision makers and more independent.
