Heritage Malta will open four of its museums for free on Thursday, a public holiday.

The museums are the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina, the Malta Maritime Museum and the Inquisitor’s Palace in Vittoriosa and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta.

The National Museum of Fine Arts will host the third edition of RE-PaintED, organised by the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts, which aims to bring together people who share an enthusiasm for the arts, their study, enjoyment and promotion.

Artists are invited to visit the museum to paint and get inspired by pictures from the permanent collection. Two models will pose like the subjects in Le Valentin’s Judith and Pacecco de Rosa’s St John the Baptist while Maltese artists will be painting on site.

Those visiting the National Museum of Natural History can take part in tours that start at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Visitors will also have the chance to become members at a discounted rate.

All four museums will be open from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. with last admission at 4.30 p.m. For more information, call Heritage Malta on 2295 4000 from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or visit www.heritagemalta.org.
