For the past month my wife and I have been privileged to enjoy Malta and all it has to offer. Now though, as we prepare to leave, may I be granted the opportunity to complain about the drastic inadequacy of road signs and the positioning of such signs; when indeed you are able to find them!

It is naturally understood that the resident Malta community all ‘know’ where they are going, but for the tourist with a rental car (even including a good road map), the distinct lack of (or badly placed) directional road signs lends itself to stressful journeys, frustration and on many occasions causing dangerous situations for oneself and other road users.

Please, if only as a public safety measure, may the island’s road route signs be reviewed as a matter of some urgency? At the very least to ensure that signs are positioned before traffic intersections and roundabouts, not on or ‘after’ them!
