The woman charged with trying to kill her partner by stabbing him in the groin was ordered to pay a deposit in connection with her bail.

Carmen Meilak, 44, is charged with the attempted murder of Alfred Farrugia, 48, in Marsa last Saturday. Mr Farrugia himself is accused of slightly injuring her.

Ms Meilak had been granted bail against a personal guarantee of €10,000, causing the Attorney General to request that she would be re-arrested and kept in custody given the seriousness of the charges.

Mr Justice Michael Mallia ordered that she make a deposit of €1,000 and confirmed the other conditions imposed in connection with bail.
