Conċetta Charles was released yesterday, a day after she was jailed for failing to return the money paid by a couple in a failed adoption.
In a civil suit, Ms Charles had been ordered to pay Lawrence and Maria Grima about €7,000 that she had received to get a baby girl from Pakistan to be adopted.
The police had charged her with misappropriation and she was sentenced to 18 months’ jail, suspended for two years, which was confirmed on appeal.
By Wednesday, Ms Charles had not paid the money back and, on Thursday, the court revoked the suspended jail term and ordered her imprisonment.
However, she paid the money yesterday and was released.
Ms Charles has had a string of cases in court after allegedly failing to pay money back to prospective adoptive parents.
She was acquitted in some of the cases and found guilty in others.
