The Grand Hotel Excelsior has clinched the largest share of awards and medals for culinary excellence at the Malta Kulinarja Cookery and Culinary Arts Championships, a bi-annual event organised by the Malta Chefs Society.

Under executive head chef Roderick Vella’s leadership, the brigade of chefs won the prestigious Parade de Chefs, Best Senior Competitor, Senior Practical Team, the Pastry Chef of the Year, Junior Chef of the Year and over 60 culinary medals.

The team was made up of Roderick Vella, David Pulis, Melvin Sammut, David Tanti, Adrian Buttigieg, Clayton Mifsud, Matthew Bonsfield, Duncan Camilleri, Ryan Galea, Gordon Bonello, Michael Paul Zacharia, Veli Koruk, Karl Desira, Charles Aquilina, Matthew Farrugia, Keith Cachia, Michelle Curmi, Kyle Baldacchino, Rosant Saliba and Brendon Young.

“These achievements reflect the role the hotel plays in the culinary innovation of the Maltese hospitality market, reinforcing its five-star philosophy for cuisine without compromise,” said general manager Norbert Grixti.
