Roma have signed Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago on loan from Real Madrid, the Serie A club have confirmed.
Gago’s move to Roma could be made permanent next summer with the Serie A outfit having an option to buy the South American player for six million euros.
The 25-year-old, who was also linked with a move to Palermo this summer, joined Real Madrid from Boca Juniors in January 2007 but struggled to secure regular first-team action in the past two seasons.
In another transfer move in Serie A, Milan signed Italy international midfielder Antonio Nocerino from Palermo.
Despite chief executive Adriano Galliani claiming on Tuesday that Milan had finished their buying for the summer, they moved to strengthen the midfield with Frenchman Mathieu Flamini out injured for five months with a ruptured knee ligament.
Nocerino signed a five-year deal although Milan didn’t divulge the size of the transfer fee. He joins other acquisitions Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool and defensive duo Philippe Mexes from Roma and Taye Taiwo from Marseille.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina signed Uruguay striker Santiago Silva, 30, on a permanent transfer from Velez Sarsfield while forward Sergio Floccari has joined Parma on loan from Lazio until the end of the season.
