The Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts (FNMFA) recently held a conducted tourof the museum followed byafternoon tea.

The aim of this activity was to welcome new members who have pledged themselves to support the museum’s activities and to familiarise them with the highlights of the museum collection.

Fifty members welcomed FNMFA president Kenneth Zammit Tabona, who also announced that the committee would try to finance the restoration of a number of antique frames.

Sandro Debono, senior curator of the museum, gave a short history of the national collection and conducted a tour highlighting the star exhibits, such as the St Stephen by Giuseppe Ribera and The Risen Christ by Guido Reni, as well as the paintings and sanguine drawings by Mattia Preti.

The FNMFA will be supporting the museum in its next activity scheduled for Tuesday, when members will be organising a life-drawing session for artists.
