Jonas Hofmann has completed a move from one Borussia to another, leaving Dortmund to join Moenchengladbach on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 23-year-old wide midfielder has already passed a medical with a fee, believed to be in the region of eight million euros, agreed between the two clubs.

Hofmann has struggled to hold down a regular berth in the Dortmund team since arriving in Westphalia from Hoffenheim in 2011, and he spent last season out on loan at Mainz.

This term he has made just seven appearances.

Monaco to offload El Shaarawy

Monaco do not intend to make Stephan El Shaarawy’s stay at the Ligue 1 club permanent, Corriere dello Sport said, adding Milan have already been notified of the situation.

The Italy striker joined Monaco under a particular deal in summer, one which compelled the club to buy him for €14m should he figure in at least 25 matches.

Having played in 24 games now, the club called Milan boss Adriano Galliani to tell him that they do not want to buy.

According to Corriere, some clubs are reportedly interested in El Shaarawy including Juventus and Fiorentina.

Sectarian chanting

The Scottish Professional Football League will wait to see what its match delegate has to say before deciding whether to take action against Rangers over sectarian chanting during Monday’s clash with Hibernian.

The banned Billy Boys song could be clearly heard being sung by the home support during the Championship fixture.

Now the club could face potential punishment if the SPFL’s delegate decides to raise the matter when he submits his report on the match, won 4-2 by the Gers.

In 2006, UEFA ordered Ran-gers to make a public announcement at all their home games pointing out the chanting of the Billy Boys was banned.

Naismith’s future

Manager Roberto Martinez ex-pects Everton striker Steven Naismith’s future to be resolved over the next couple of weeks amid speculation of fresh interest from Norwich City.

The Canaries tried to tempt Naismith to Carrow Road last summer but saw that move blocked by Martinez.

However, the Scot has started just four times in the league this season. Everton now play five times in 14 days and Martinez believes clarity will be brought to Naismith’s situation after that run of games.

“We speak constantly – in terms of making a decision about the next step and his future, it’s going to be over the next couple of weeks,” Martinez said.

Villa interested in signing Loic Remy

Remi Garde has confirmed he wants to bring Loic Remy to Aston Villa. The Chelsea striker is a loan target for Garde in the January transfer window.

The boss is searching for reinforcements to dig Villa out of their desperate situation with the club 11 points from safety.

Garde said: “Loic is a guy I know well, of course it would be an interesting player for the team. He is part of some players I’ll try to attract to Aston Villa, for sure.”

Remy has struggled for games at Chelsea this season despite Diego Costa’s lack of form and the club’s nightmare season.

Roma veteran Cole assesses options

Ashley Cole is not yet certain to move from Roma to LA Galaxy, despite an official from the American club being quoted as saying a deal was “close”.

A formal announcement regarding the arrival of the former England international was said to be approaching, according to an unnamed Galaxy official yesterday.

Sources close to defender Cole insist that a possible transfer to Major League Soccer is simply one of “two or three options”, one of which includes remaining at Roma, where Cole is understood to enjoy his present life.

The defender has infrequently featured for the Italian club since his arrival there from Chelsea in the summer of 2014, leading to occasional speculation that he will again move on in the pursuit of first-team football.

Kompany out for at least a month

Manchester City are looking at another month without captain Vincent Kompany after the defender suffered a second degree tear in his calf during Saturday’s 4-1 Premier League win over Sunderland.

Tuesday’s goalless draw against second-placed Leicester was Manchester City’s first clean sheet in the league this season without their Belgian captain.

Kompany has missed more than half of Manchester City’s league games this season, playing in nine out of the 19, and hobbled off within 10 minutes of appearing as a second-half substitute against Sunderland.
