Auditing firm KPMG has launched an internal review of its Swiss business over audits of FIFA’s financial record keeping.

KPMG Switzerland’s audits for FIFA were being scrutinised “in consultation” with parent company, KPMG International, said spokesman Andreas Hammer.

The US Department of Justice and the Swiss Attorney General’s Office are investigating alleged corruption within FIFA, with headquarters in Zurich, after the indictment of 14 senior football officials and sports marketing executives in May.

Last week, FIFA put Jerome Valcke, its second-ranking official, on leave after an ex-footballer raised allegations he was involved in a plan to resell 2014 World Cup tickets for a lucrative profit.

Drogba continues to make Impact

Didier Drogba scored one and set up another in Montreal’s 3-0 home win over New England Revolution on Saturday, as the Impact continue to impress with the former Chelsea striker spearheading their forward line.

Unbeaten in their last four, Montreal are on 36 points in the Eastern Conference and occupy the sixth and final play-off spot.

After an early goal from Johan Venegas, Drogba scored with a deflected free-kick to put his side 2-0 up on the hour mark, then set up Dilly Duka with a nice pass for the US midfielder to cap the scoring 15 minutes from time.

Wolfsburg coach slams Dost attitude

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has criticised Bas Dost harshly, even though it was the Dutchman who earned his side a 2-0 Bundesliga win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Dost sprang from the bench to score both goals in the Wolves’ third win of an unbeaten start to the season.

“I was pleased for the team that he scored twice, but the way he has been sauntering around here these past few days is egotism and we don’t need anything like that here,” Hecking told Kicker magazine.

Cavani rescues unbeaten PSG

Ligue 1 leaders Paris St Germain came from behind to preserve their unbeaten start to the season thanks to substitute Edinson Cavani’s late equaliser at Reims.

Reims looked set to inflict a first defeat of the season on the champions when teenager Theoson Siebatcheu fired into the bottom corner in the 83rd minute.

But PSG launched an immediate response and the home side’s lead was short-lived.

Argentina international Javier Pastore provided the telling assist just over a minute later and Uruguayan striker Cavani finished neatly for his sixth goal in four matches.

Tevez’s poor tackle injures defender

Carlos Tevez scored twice for Boca Juniors on Saturday but the main talking point from their 3-1 win over Argentinos Juniors in a stormy Argentine league game was his studs-up challenge that left defender Ezequiel Ham with a broken ankle.

Television replays showed Tevez going in with his foot raised and slamming it into Ham’s ankle, leaving the Argentinos defender writhing in agony.

Tevez was not sanctioned for the second-half incident.

“I went for the ball, I didn’t have bad intentions,” he said in a television interview.

“I’m sad because I didn’t want to hurt the lad, I’ve never hurt anyone playing football, this is the first time.

“I’m going to visit him and apologise.”

De Bruyne rues Man. City bad luck

Manchester City were left to rue their luck after suffering their first setback of the season at the hands of West Ham.

The Premier League leaders lost their 100 per cent record as they were beaten 2-1 by the Hammers at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

“I don’t think we played a bad game,” Kevin De Bruyne, who scored City’s goal in his first start since his £54 million club record move from Wolfsburg, said.

“Obviously we didn’t start well with the two goals against us but they were almost the only two chances they got.”

Chelsea wanted it more, says Matic

Nemanja Matic said Chelsea wanted to win more than Arsenal, spurring the Premier League champions to a 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Chelsea claimed their first home league triumph of the season and extended the Gunners’ winless league run against their rivals to eight games.

“We wanted to win more than them,” Matic told Chelsea TV.

“It was a very important three points for us, especially against them.

“We didn’t start the season very well so it was very important to win these two games – Champions League against Maccabi (Tel Aviv) and the derby against Arsenal.”
