Why are billboards not cleared immediately once the events being promoted have passed? A number of billboards with posters referring to the Joseph Calleja concert, held almost two months ago, can still be seen. This practice does not say much about managing such billboards, especially since these are in prominent places.

Free flowing

Are the authorities planning on cleaning the culverts, which form part of the flood relief projects, of the leaves and other dirt that accumulates in them over time? The rain will soon come and it may then be too late to avoid certain blockages.

Blocked view

One of the traffic lights opposite the church of Santa Venera, on the main road leading to Ħamrun, is being masked by a tree. Some pruning should do the trick. Also, can Transport Malta consider placing an overhead traffic light in the middle of the road there, because, given the way the road turns, motorists coming from the direction of Fleur-de-Lys at one point cannot see the lights on their left.

Unfit for purpose

A construction site in Birkirkara Road, corner with Gallina Street, in Kappara has been partially sealed off by a boundary wall, part of which was built with about two metres protruding onto the road. To make matters worse, the wall stands in front of a bus stop. Can Mepa and the authorities involved do something about it before someone gets hurt?

Spell check

A sign displayed near a Vittoriosa lotto booth was surely not proofread before it was mounted in place. Admittedly, we all make mistakes but that is precisely why there needs to be a system of checks. When proofreading, one does not even need to invest in a good dictionary these days, because there are quite a few online and most are available free of charge. All one needs to do is have the will to consult them if in doubt. That’s all.

Abandoned car

A car with a flat tyre has been parked at the same spot in St Julian’s for over 15 days. As a result of this, the glass bin next to it cannot be emptied and is now overflowing.
