Bayern Munich said they have no interest in selling Thomas Mueller, despite a reported offer from Manchester United to sign the versatile attacking midfielder this summer.

“It is not Thomas who has caused this furore but his performances,” Bayern sports director Matthias Sammer said.

“For everything that has followed there is nothing we can do.

“(Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge was right when he said that he is a player who does not have a price tag.”

Keeper Adrian loses red card appeal

West Ham have lost their appeal over the sending-off of goalkeeper Adrian against Leicester and his three-match ban starts immediately.

The goalkeeper will miss the matches with Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle after a wrongful dismissal claim was rejected, the FA has announced.

Adrian was sent off late in last weekend’s 2-1 loss for a challenge on Jamie Vardy after he went up for a corner.

His pleas were dismissed and it now appears summer signing Darren Randolph will come in for Saturday’s match at home to Bournemouth.

Gibson charged with drink-driving

Everton midfielder Darron Gibson crashed his car into a cyclist before driving off and hitting a petrol pump while over the drink-driving limit.

The 27-year-old midfielder was driving a black Nissan luxury sports car when it is claimed he hit the bike near his home in Altrincham on Sunday night.

Police were called and charged the footballer with driving without due care and attention, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

Gibson, an Ireland international, began his career at Manchester United before joining Everton for around £1 million in 2012. He is currently out due to a groin injury.

Klose set for scan

Lazio fear Miroslav Klose could have suffered a serious hamstring injury in his team’s 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night.

Klose came off at half-time after sustaining a muscular problem and is set to have a scan this week to assess the seriousness of the injury. The German forward is set to miss next week’s second leg of Lazio’s Champions League play-off tie in Germany.

“Klose had a muscular problem and I think it is highly un-likely we’ll be able to have him in the second leg,” Lazio coach Stefano Pioli told reporters.

“It’s a real problem, as we can’t add anyone else to the Cham-pions League list. But we need another striker and Klose’s injury magnifies it.”

Inler leaves Napoli to join Leicester City

Leicester City have completed the signing of Gokhan Inler from Napoli.

The midfielder has signed a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium to become the Foxes’ sixth signing of the summer.

Boss Claudio Ranieri has been chasing a new midfielder after failing to persuade Esteban Cambiasso to stay at the club and has now snapped up Switzerland international Inler.

Ranieri has already signed N’Golo Kante from Caen to beef up his midfield options and Inler joins for an undisclosed fee ahead of Premier League visit of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Foxes have won both of their opening games under Ranieri to sit joint top of the table.

Barca’s Pique banned for four matches

Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has been banned for four matches by the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) after he was sent off for insulting a linesman in last Monday’s Spanish Super Cup second leg against Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona can appeal and may get the sanction reduced but if that fails the Spain international will miss the Spanish and European champions’ opening four La Liga matches, including Sunday’s trip to play Athletic Bilbao and the game at Atletico Madrid on September 12.

Pique apologised via his Twitter account on Tuesday and denied using insulting language.

A Barca spokesman said the club had not yet decided whether to lodge an appeal.

Michel named new Marseille coach

Marseille have appointed former Real Madrid captain Michel as their new coach, the French club announced yesterday.

The 52-year-old takes over from Marcelo Bielsa, who re-signed after a 1-0 home defeat by Caen in their first Ligue 1 game of the season on August 8.

Michel has signed a two-year contract with Les Olympiens.

He had been without a club since January this year after winning a domestic cup and two Superleague titles in Greece with Olympiakos.

The former Spain international has also managed Rayo Vallecano, Getafe and Sevilla in La Liga in his coaching career.
