QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt admits he would jump at the chance to secure a move to Olympique Marseille.

Reports said QPR may be willing to let the Morocco international leave this summer but they are understood to be reluctant on sanctioning a permanent deal.

Taarabt hopes the Ligue 1 outfit will enter negotiations.

He said: “The club of my heart? OM. I have not had a direct contact but if OM want me, I’m going.

“My sisters still live in Marseille. This is the first club I supported.”

Giroud boost

Olivier Giroud scored twice after coming off the bench as Arsenal romped to a 7-0 victory over an Indonesia Dream Team on Sunday.

The France international striker is likely to face increased competition for his place up front in his second season at the Emirates, as Wenger looks to bring in extra firepower.

But the Arsenal boss had words of encouragement for Giroud, saying: “I like Olivier very much. He scored 17 goals in his first year in England and I’m sure he will respond.”

Arsenal have now moved to Hanoi in Vietnam, where they will face the national team in their next pre-season tour clash on Saturday.

Storari prefers to stay at Juventus

Marco Storari, the reserve goalkeeper at Juventus, made it clear he does not intend to leave the Italian champions this summer despite persistent rumours linking him with Fiorentina.

Storari, 36, has played second-string to Gianluigi Buffon since his arrival in 2010 but despite ‘pleasing’ rumours linking him with Fiorentina he insisted that he is staying in Turin.

“Of course all the market rumours are pleasing,” he was quoted as saying.

“But I still have a contract here and I want to stay. True, I have not played much but that’s because in front of me there is a great keeper like Gigi.”

Beckham: United will win the league

David Beckham thinks David Moyes faces a difficult job in his first season at Manchester United, but is tipping him to win the Premier League.

Beckham said: “It was always going to be difficult job for whoever succeeded Sir Alex because of what the manager has brought to United.

“But the same players are there and I’m sure a few more will be added over the next few weeks.

“It’s going to be interesting this year as there have been so many changes throughout the Premier League. Jose (Mourinho) is back and that’s exciting. It’s going to be interesting, but I still think United will win the league... I’m a Manchester United fan!”

Thiago Silva set to stay in Paris

Brazil centre-back Thiago Silva will honour the remaining four years on his contract with PSG, according to his agent.

The 28-year-old, who arrived at the Parc des Princes last July from Milan on a five-year deal, has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.

However, his representative Paulo Tonietto, speaking after a meeting with club president Nasser Al Khelaifi in Doha, said: “He’ll go to the end of his contract. He will still be there this season.”

Barca full-back Adriano claimed last week that his compatriot and close friend was keen to join him at the Nou Camp, but said the Ligue 1 champions were standing in the way.

Striker Miccoli opts for Lecce

Striker Fabrizio Miccoli has moved to Lecce after being released by Palermo, the Serie B team announced yesterday.

The 34-year-old left Palermo after his contract expired following six years at the club, who were relegated from the top flight last season.

Miccoli, who made 10 appearances for Italy between 2003-04, has also played for Juventus and Fiorentina, as well as Benfica in Portugal.

He had been linked with a move away from Italy with Australian club Melbourne Victory mooted as a possible destination, but he settled on third-tier club Lecce with the contract set to be formalised tomorrow.

Liverpool get the nod from De Boer

Frank de Boer says he would not stand in Christian Eriksen’s way, should the Ajax midfielder choose to join Liverpool.

The Reds are being linked with a £22 million double swoop on the Amsterdam club for Denmark attacking midfielder Eriksen and Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld.

Eriksen has been coveted by a host of top clubs but it is understood that Liverpool and Roma have been left to battle it out for the 21-year-old’s services.

“It is up to Christian what he wants,” said De Boer.

“We realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career... I can’t stop him.”
