The agent of Lucho Gonzalez has confirmed the out-of-favour Marseille midfielder’s determination to leave the club in the winter transfer window.

The Argentinian has been left on the bench by coach Didier Deschamps in recent weeks to prompt speculation of a move away.

Lucho had been linked with Arsenal and Malaga in the summer and, while the interest of both teams has reportedly cooled, his agent Federico Simonian still expects his player to be sold.

“He wants to leave. He wants to play in a championship that is better than Ligue 1,” Simonian said.

Twelve-year-old rejects Chelsea

A 12-year-old Swindon midfielder has rejected the chance to join Chelsea, the League Two club have confirmed.

Jordan Young, one of Swindon’s most promising players, has been the focus of attention of several bigger clubs but it was the Blues who made the first overtures.

However, he has opted to remain with the Robins and continue his development, to the delight of the Wiltshire outfit.

Jeremy Newton, director of Swindon’s Centre of Excellence, said: “Jordan remains contracted to the club until 2015 and he is one of a number of players who we have high hopes for and have secured for the future.”

Paladini leaves

Former chairman Gianni Paladini’s eight-year association with QPR has ended after he agreed to leave the club by mutual consent.

Paladini’s departure had been prompted following Tony Fernandes’s takeover in August.

The 65-year-old stepped down as chairman following the Malaysian airline entrepreneur’s arrival and had since been acting in an advisory capacity before this week’s decision.

Paladini helped lead QPR back into the Premier League this season and admitted he would leave with fond memories of his time in west London.

Nicky Butt wants coaching role

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has his sights firmly set on football management. Following a spell playing for Hong Kong outfit South China last season, Butt is spending time back with United while taking his coaching badges.

In the summer he was linked with the vacant manager’s post at Oldham, but the 36-year-old is wary of rushing things.

“There are a lot of things I’m able to do now but my ultimate aim is to be a manager,” he said.

“That’s what I want to do but I want to slowly get there and be ready for it.”

Fellaini pens new Toffees deal

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has signed a new five-year contract which ties him to the club until the summer of 2016.

Speculation over the Belgium midfielder’s future had been growing over recent weeks even though he had 18 months remaining on his existing deal.

But Toffees manager David Moyes was always confident he could keep the 23-year-old on board.

Fellaini signed from Standard Liege for £15 million in 2008 and has impressed in central midfield this season, having overcome injury problems in the past two seasons.

Lennon calls for end to chants

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has repeated his call for fans to stop the chants that have brought a UEFA charge against the club.

The European governing body instigated a charge of “illicit chanting” following songs sung during the Europa League win over Rennes on November 3, while Celtic were reported to the Scottish Premier League over IRA chants heard during a goalless draw against Hibernian days earlier.

Lennon said: “We have our own values and traditions but they do not include these chants. We don’t want them at matches and they must stop.”

Hiddink hints at Blues return

Guus Hiddink has not ruled out a return to Chelsea following the termination of his contract as Turkey coach by mutual consent. He managed Chelsea between February and May 2009, leading them to FA Cup success.

“I’m going to take some time off and then we will see what happens, but I had a wonderful time in England,” Hiddink said.

“It was great at Chelsea, a terrific time, but I need some time to reflect.”

Andre Villas-Boas is Chelsea’s manager now but Hiddink appears ready to consider a sporting director or similar role in the future.
