A company was asked to exhibit sensitive commercial information as evidence in a court case it had nothing to do with, it said in a judicial protest.

San Pedro International Limited, filed the protest against the VAT department director general arguing that the department processed its data to use it in a court case. In the protest, the company said it was asked to exhibit data related to its VAT payments in the case, Castle Hill Limited vs the Prime Minister.

The company Castle Hill is its direct competitor.

San Pedro International said it had nothing to do with this case and had no ties. Yet it was still being asked to divulge this information that was not public and from which the profits and losses could be easily obtained.

The company said the department was using its data illegally and abusively to further its own aims in court.

The company said it was holding the director of the department responsible for any damages.

Lawyers Stefano Filletti and Jennifer Shaw appeared for San Pedro International.
