The final consultation phased has been launched for Malta’s first-ever strategy and action plan for the green economy.

During a visit to Toly Products, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said the initial consultation process was launched in November 2013 with the assistance of a leading Irish green growth expert and a UK specialist from the corporate sector.

Since then there has been extensive consultation at stakeholder level including key components of the private sector and constituted bodies, at an interministerial level, within a purposely established core group, as well as through various one-to-one meetings with individual ministries and government entities.

In all there are some 53 proposals based on nine pivotal sectors, which should result in green led growth once they come to fruition.

When the process is finalised the document will be subjected to a final economic evaluation to ensure that it is feasible.

The final consultation online process runs till November 3.
