After the last terrible killings in Brussels, the world must redouble its efforts to bring peace and stability to war-torn countries like Iraq, Syria and Libya.
We must keep in mind that these atrocities are being perpetrated by a minority of extremists. These have nothing to do with the suffering refugees streaming into Europe. We must reach out and help marginalised youth in our cities who are being brainwashed by extremists.
On the other hand, security must be beefed up everywhere. I suggest that passengers and luggage be screened at a good safe distance outside airport/station areas. This should be coupled with increasing use of CCTV cameras and intelligence within our cities.
This will all come at a price. But, surely, we must be prepared to pay more when our lives are at stake.
