In yesterday’s programme valid for final classification in the Premier and First Division leagues, Exiles Ferretti beat Marsascala Mor€ to retain top-league status while San Ġiljan Giuseppe’s made sure of third spot when disposing of Sirens Ritter Sport, with the teams starting on two and one point respectively.

The first match had a decisive twist midway in the second session when Judas Szolt was expelled for four minutes for serious foul play after retaliating to Timmy Sullivan’s robust play leading to Exiles’ 6-3 advantage.

Aurelien Cousin’s team exploited all their man-ups and then went on to complete their mammoth victory.

The return of San Ġiljan’s Matthew Zammit proved to be significant not so much for being the author of three goals as for the controversial build-up that led to his team’s penultimate late goal.

Referee Peter Balzan failed to spot what looked to be a ball underwater infringement by Zammit, an episode that led to a penalty and a 13-11 scoreline in favour of Karl Izzo’s San Ġiljan.

Sirens had a better start and led until five minutes into the third session but then they had to endure their opponents' spirited comeback through six-goal Nikola Sutic.
