I am trying desperately to recall my meeting with David Borg (‘A new parish priest needed’, October 28) as well as the conversation we had outlining my grievances towards our parish priest, Fr Kalċidon Vassallo.

Dun Kalċ, as he is well known in Balzan, has been nothing but exemplary in the last 15 years of his residency in our village. His efforts to promote a close community are second to none as he tirelessly involves himself in all the parish events that are held.

On a personal note, he is always ready to welcome his parishioners with open arms no matter how great or small the problem may seem. May I also add that our parish priest is very much in touch with modern society and all the problems associated with it.

So I ask Borg: which group of Balzan parishioners’ views is he representing? Definitely not mine or my family’s or the regular attendees to the parish priest’s popular Sunday and daily Mass.

I suggest that Borg directs his concerns and suggestions to his own parish and leave us to enjoy the harmony that Dun Kalċ has instilled in our community.
