Equal Partners, a parent-run foundation working to empower people with disability and/or learning difficulties and their families, has a new president.

Louise Pisani is a mother of four, whose youngest son is autistic. She, her husband and her family have been members of the foundation for the past 10 years.

She will be replacing Colin Galea, who had been foundation president for 14 years, ever since it was set up.

This year has seen some changes to the board members of the foundation. During the AGM, three new parent members were elected to the board. The board members are: Mrs Pisani, president; Elena Tanti Burlo, vice-president; Kenneth Micallef, treasurer; Philip Grech, PRO; Stefan Morrow, Sarah Buckle, Anna Kristina Cachia, parent members; and Charmaine Agius Ferrante and Jennifer Briffa Desjardins, professional members. The secretary of the board is Louisa Grech.

Mr Galea encouraged the parent members to be more visible and more active and to keep working for the benefit of their sons and daughters with a disability, to work towards improving their independence and quality of life.
