Maria Camilleri, the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Arab countries, refused a €34,000 salary and gets €100 per month to cover expenses, according to information given in Parliament yesterday.

Ms Camilleri is a former Labour MP and head teacher of a Muslim school.

She is also entitled to a class A subsistence allowance and a travel allowance. Hospitality costs are refunded.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said Joseph Zammit Tabona (former High Commissioner to the UK) and ex-foreign minister Alex Sceberras Trigona were special envoys.

They had a remuneration of €34,684 each as well as paid use of mobile phone and home internet, subsistence and travel allowance and refund of hospitality costs.
