Danish artist Jesper Ejrup has always had a special place in his heart for the Maltese music scene, and, for several years , has been helping local bands to chalk up some foreign experience by booking and promoting them in Denmark.

Now he has opened up a local section of his new Ejrupsound label.

His relationship with Malta and its music scene was born out of a friendship Ejrup struck with local musician Nick Morales, with whom he has been working closely for many years.

“I’ve always believed in the Maltese artists,” Ejrup commented. “There is no doubt in my mind that the talent here can easily compete with any artist on an international level.”

Further to the news that he has signed Morales as the first Maltese artist on the Ejrupsound label, the Danish musician added: “I’ve seen so much hard work here and I can see how dedicated musicians are in Malta. I feel this is a good opportunity for both the label and the Maltese scene.”

Ejrup also said Morales will be moving to Copenhagen to start working in the new studio on the label’s first release. “We’ve also got a string of live dates lined up with Nick opening for my new band,” Ejrup revealed. “We’re planning our second European promotion tour and I’m very excited to see that all our hard work is paying off. My relationship with the Maltese scene started seven years ago and I really feel like I’m a part of Malta now.”
