EU28 international trade in services rose in 2012, with exports of services to the rest of the world up nine per cent, to €662 billion, and imports by six per cent, to €509 billion, according to Eurostat. The EU28 trade in services had a surplus of €153 billion in 2012, compared with €131 billion in 2011 and €109 billion in 2010.
In 2012, the EU28 recorded surpluses in trade in services with all its main partners.
The highest surpluses were with the EFTA countries (€31billion), Russia and the US (both €14 billion), China and Japan (both €9 billion), and Brazil and Canada (both €7 billion).
