He may be based half a world away from this little island, but Australian artist Adam Dunning seems to have fans all over the place. Two weeks into the new year, and his latest single Happy New Year is still attracting attention, its appeal apparently extending beyond its seasonal appeal and still clocking up sales in Asia, America, Brazil, and naturally, Dunning’s native Australia.

A gently swaying Bossa Nova number, Dunning’s latest single brings out the crooner in him; a warm blend of soothing acoustic pop rooted in a timeless tradition that contrasts sharply with the signature summer vibe sound he has become renowned for.

It is also his first release since the release of his internationally acclaimed 2011 debut album, Sunset Monkeys, and will feature on his upcoming new album, which is scheduled for release next month.

In a comment, Dunning said the song “is being played everywhere – Russia, Brazil, Turkey, South Korea, as well as the usual English speaking markets. That’s the good thing about a new year – every country has one, even if they are not all celebrated at the same time.”

Happy New Year is available for download either at www.adamdunning.com or on iTunes.
