Maximilian Ciantar, the driver who ran over twin girls last year at high speed, has had a bail request denied in the case where he stands charged with breaching a driving ban.

Mr Ciantar, 21, from Marsa, was only 10 days into the six-month driving ban when he was allegedly caught in late November at the wheel of a car in Ħamrun.

He had originally been granted bail by Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani in the case but following an incident in which he allegedly tried to attack two court reporters, his bail was revoked by a judge following an appeal by the Attorney General.

The case has been deferred for judgement to January.
