Signs posted in Msida to guide commuters around the redesigned junction off the Workers’ Memorial are steering some drivers off course. Others are risking getting fined after unexpectedly ending up in a bus lane right next to the traffic lights.

The signs were put up last month during the completion of a project meant to reduce traffic congestion on one of the island’s busiest roads. But there are no signs informing commuters of a bus lane by the traffic lights off the local council office, and drivers could end up being fined for illegally stopping on it.

Meanwhile, those who want to head to Sliema or Gżira have two options. However, if they take the route on the far right, they will end up on a slipway going around the 5th October Square that is labelled ‘Valletta Only’ (right).
