Over 300 Delicata vine growers were last week invited for drinks at the company’s winery on Paola Waterfront to ring in the new year.

The occasion was also an opportunity to show appreciation for all the effort they put into last year’s harvest.

The event took place in Delicata’s state-of-the-art fermentation hall, where a selection of the award-winning winemakers DOK and IGT quality wines were available for the guests to try.

They were welcomed with a glass of semi-sparkling Girgentina and Ġellewża Rosé Frizzato, made from Malta’s two native grape varieties.

A number of other wines, made from international grape varieties introduced to Malta and Gozo over the last 20 years and grown by many of the farming families in attendance, were also served.

Growers had the opportunity to discuss issues of vineyard management with Delicata’s head of viticulture and winemaking, Matthew Delicata, and other members of the winemaking family, along with viticulturist Jonathan Falzon.
