The two latest 2013 vintage white wines from Delicata’s award-winning flagship range Gran Cavalier have just been released. These are the soft, full-flavoured Gran Cavalier Chardonnay which has been barrel-fermented in 225-litre French oak barriques and the crisp, fruity Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc Maceration Pelliculaire. Both wines have been accredited with the DOK Malta classification.

This is the 14th vintage of Gran Cavalier white wines to be released since the brands’ launch in 2000. The single varietal range, which also consists of two red wines, Syrah and Merlot, is made from Malta-grown noble grape varieties that have been hand-harvested in selected family-run vineyards. Since its launch, the range has been awarded nine international medals in Paris, London and Burgundy.

For lovers of Sauvignon Blanc, the 2013 vintage is a ‘must’ to try: it’s young and fresh, and just bursting with crisp, ripe, citric fruit flavours. It makes the perfect accompaniment to the most delicate fresh fish dishes, shellfish, salads and fresh asparagus. The Chardonnay, being rounder and ‘fatter’, goes down very well with fuller and smoked seafood dishes, creamy pasta dishes, poultry and some white meats, including veal and pork.
