A 28-year-old man was yesterday charged with breaking into a Żabbar shop and stealing cash, coffee and other items last month.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi heard Wayne Delia, from Paola, plead not guilty to stealing less than €120 in cash and groceries to the detriment of Noel Grech on December 13.

He also denied damaging the lock of the shop when he broke in during the night, relapsing and breaching the conditions of a previous release.

Mr Delia was denied bail at this stage.

Police Inspector Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyer Joseph Brincat represented Mr Delia.
