If, as has been reported in this paper, the Autobuses de Leon were satisfied with their performance on the first day of the introduction of the new system of paying for bus fares, it is really worrying that the chaos they managed to generate should bring them so much satisfaction.
What are we to expect in the future?
This company has, to date, already received far more than Arriva in subsidies from the people’s money.
It showed little consideration for hundreds, if not thousands, of customers who were not given their card or those whose card could not be used (as in my case and the cases of a number of my friends). Shame!
A simple solution could have been postponing the inauguration of this new system by one month.
I am also deeply shocked by the behaviour of the ‘wild’ Maltese woman who spat on and slapped a foreigner who is studying in Malta. (Jordanians beware!) On such occasions I am ashamed to be Maltese. The way the police handled the case leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least.
