Cruise passenger traffic in January increased by 32 by per cent to nearly 12,800 compared to the same period in 2011, according to official statistics.

More than 5,000 passengers were aged between 60 and 79 years while nearly 4,000 fell in the 40 to 59 age group.

The majority of cruise passengers, 82 per cent, were from EU countries and amounted to more than 10,500, the National Statistics Office said.
