A couple living in Marsascala yesterday filed a judicial protest over the state of their street which they claimed gets worse every time it rains.

Stephen and Claire Carter, who live in a rural part of Bidni Street, said they were always told by the local council that there were not enough funds to repair the damaged road yet other roads were being regularly maintained. It was the local council’s legal obligation to have the roads in the locality looked after but their street was dilapidated and causing damage to their cars because of the large potholes.

Only a small part of the road was actually surfaced but the work stopped suddenly and the road was left in a disastrous state, the couple said.

They are holding the council responsible for any damages.
