As from today, the Santa Marija Tower in Comino is open again until the end of October.

Visitors can not only enjoy the experience of stepping back to the time of Grand Master Wignacourt, who built the tower in 1618, but also take the opportunity to explore this gem of an island in its spring mantle of greens and yellows. The Comino Tower featured as Chateau D’If in the 2002 film The Count of Monte Cristo.

The Santa Marija Gun Battery, built in 1714, which stands sentinel over the Gozo Channel, is open at all times.

Din L-Art Ħelwa volunteers will be delighted to share their enthusiasm for the tower and Comino.

Comino Tower is normally open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, when the flag is flying. Entrance is by donation; children are free.

■ Group bookings can also be made by contacting Carolyn on 9905 1866 or carolync @maltanet.net. The tower is also a unique venue for a private function, team building or fundraising activity. While in Gozo, one may also visit Dwejra Tower and Ta’ Sopu Tower in Nadur, the latter being open on request. For more information, visit www.dinlarthelwa.org.
