The family film season returns today at the Oratory Don Bosco in Victoria, with Wreck-It Ralph, an animated comedy film that appeals to both adults and children.

Every Sunday till May, families with children are invited to attend Cinefamilja, which starts at 5.30pm.

The family film season at the Oratory Don Bosco has been taking place since 1951 but the digital revolution that is sweeping over the film industry may have a significant impact on this initiative.

The Oratory Don Bosco cinema is the only functioning one on the island after the Citadel Cinema closed down last April. Various attempts have been made to obtain the necessary equipment required to switch to digital. However, the cost is substantial, and without financial help this will be impossible to achieve, leading to the unfortunate end of cinema in Gozo.
