A unique project started 17 years ago by Joe Gerada consists of  a church model made of wood on a scale of 1:6 and measuring 9.5 metres long by 5.5 metres wide. It contains various pieces of art and is set atop a large table to enable visitors to go through it.

This model church, in Corinthian style, is in the shape of a cross and has two side chapels incorporated in it.

There is one main altar and another 11 secondary altars around, some of which are decorated with hand-painted oil on canvas.

These paintings are replicas of various originals that we find on the island painted by Giuseppe Calì. There are five arches on both sides and underneath each are statues that represent different episodes of the Via Crucis.

These statues are decorated with silver haloes and crosses decorated by hand with wooden inlays. All the statues are made of clay and are locally made by hand.

This exhibition is open from today up to April 14 at 29, Korfu Street, Naxxar. Opening hours during weekdays from 7pm till 10pm and on weekends, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, from 10am till noon and from 7pm till 11pm.
