Farsons Beverage Imports Company Limited, in collaboration with De Mondion Xara Palace, recently hosted a wine dinner with a focus on Chateauneuf du Pape from the renowned house of Chateau Mont Redon.

Chateau Mont Redon owner Jerome Abeille gave patrons an insight into the wines of the Rhone Valley, with its very specific terroir, the development of the Chateauneuf du Pape and the long history of Chateau Mont Redon.

The first vines found at Chateau Mont Redon date back to Roman times and, over the centuries, the Chateau passed through a number of owners.

The current owners, the Abeille and Fabre families, have been managing the property for four generations.

The wines tasted during the evening lived up to the high expectations of Chateauneuf du Pape.

Chateau Mont Redon’s Chateauneuf du Pape 2000 in magnum showed how well this wine can age. It matched perfectly with a slow-cooked lamb shank, prepared by De Mondion’s chefs. A Provence rose, Chateau Riotor, was offered as a welcome drink, along with Cote Du Rhone Blanc.

During his three-day stay in Malta, Mr Abeille also visited other restaurants.
