Festa Komunità, organised by St Benedict College Boys’ Secondary School in Kirkop, recently took place for the third year running, raising €3,002 in aid of Dar tal-Providenza.

Eleven band clubs from the school catchment area sent representatives to play together during the evening.

Those who attended enjoyed listening to all the bandsmen playing the same music together and seeing the different banners of the various bands marching together. They also had the opportunity to participate in other activities that took place, including face-painting, bingo, train rides and exhibitions, plays, solo and choir singing and dancing. Healthy meals and drinks were also prepared by the school’s healthy eating team.

The event showed how a school can reach out to the community at large, opening its doors wide to the public, bringing together diverse elements from society and fostering a feeling of togetherness.

The blood donation mobile unit was also set up inside the school grounds.
