The golfing season at the Royal Malta Golf Club (RMGC) would not be complete without the inclusion of the most popular group competition.
The Captains League, a staple on the calendar since 1986, is a team event whereby the last seven captains of the RMGC choose their strongest players and challenge for the trophy over seven rounds, played once a month from December until June.
This prestigious competition has once again received valued support from NEXIA BT, a leading audit, tax and advisory firm.
The first round of this year’s Captains League was played recently.
After a three-way-tie on 36 points, Sean Bradshaw emerged as winner of the first round. Mario Balzan Demajo was the runner-up and Frank O’Lorcain placed third.
The leading team after the opening round are Ken Micallef’s selection with a total of 171 points, closely followed by Ian Macpherson’s team on 170.
The prize-giving ceremony was held at the RMGC clubhouse.
Trophies were presented by Ron Feenan, the RMGC captain, and Anais Mathieu, on behalf of sponsors NEXIA BT.
