Earning a degree was hard work but the university experience helps people become stronger, according to a university graduate.

Addressing the last graduation ceremony yesterday afternoon, Melvin Calleja, a graduate with an Honours Bachelor of Psychology degree, said: “University is a lived experience… It’s an academic and a social experience, helping the person to grow in all aspects and regards. If the only thing you take with you out of this place is the exam result, I say you’d have failed University altogether,” he said.

Pointing out that university life made students go through so much hardship, Mr Calleja pointed out that they had to trust themselves and fight to reach their goals.

Being accepted in a group and working together as a team to reach a common goal helped put things in perspective, he added.
