Between September 2010 and June 2011 a total of 228 students were referred to the Safe Schools Programme of the Psycho-Social Educational Services for bullying in school. The number includes both alleged bullies and victims.

Answering a parliamentary question by Justyne Caruana (PL), Education Minister Dolores Cristina gave a breakdown of the figures as seven from St Nicholas College, 22 (St Thomas More), 28 (St Theresa), 18 (St Margaret), seven (Gozo College), 25 (St Benedict), 23 (St George Preca), 17 (St Clare), 15 (St Ignatius) and 20 (Maria Regina).

There were also 36 referrals after reports in 21 private and Church schools.
