Papadopoulos: A row has erupted between Olympiakos and the Hellenic Federation over Avraam Papadopoulos’ injury in Friday’s Euro 2012 opener with Poland. The club have accused the federation’s doctor of not taking his injury seriously and Papadopoulos should have been replaced imme-diately and not after 16 minutes. He is expected to be out of action for at least six months with a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Southampton: Southampton have begun preparations for life back in the Premier League by breaking their transfer record to sign Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez. The 22-year-old signed a four-year deal.

Tahiti: Tahiti beat New Caledonia 1-0 in the Oceania Nations Cup final in the Solomon Islands yesterday, winning a place in the 2013 Confederations Cup alongside Brazil and Spain among others. The Pacific minnows are ranked equal 179th in the world.

Wolfsburg: Wolfsburg have signed defensive midfielder Kevin Pannewitz from Hansa Rostock on a two-year contract. The 21-year-old is regarded highly by Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath, although his new coach has warned him he must work hard and maintain his focus if he is to maximise his potential.
