Meta L-Mkunga Twelled, a book by Julia Farrugia, was recently launched at Europa House, Valletta.

The book launch was organised by SOS Malta at a ‘Mothersnight’ activity as part of the ‘Save Women’s Lives’ project – an EU-funded, three-year campaign to increase public awareness about Millennium Development Goal 5 and influence public opinion on maternal health and its relation to poverty eradication in developing countries.

The book is set in Mombasa, Kenya, and focuses on the important role of the Mkunga (midwife).

The respective wives of the Prime Minister and the opposition leader, Kate Gonzi and Michelle Muscat, were among the guests present at the launch.
