With the aim of encouraging children to explore the magical world of books, the HSBC Malta Foundation recently donated a book collection to St The-resa College Lija-Balzan-IklinPrimary.

HSBC northern area director Speranza Catania said the foundation considers these contributions as vital tools for the students’ educational formation.

“In today’s IT-oriented society, books still have a relevant place in our lives and not just from an academic point of view,” she said.

College headmistress Marie Louise Farrugia emphasised the importance of reading, especially in the early stages of education. To this effect, the college recently inaugurated a dedicated book room themed ‘Jungle wonderland – a haven for literacy and creativity’.

Principal Frank Fabri said the donation was a clear example of how the corporate world can invest and help develop the potential of primary students.
