Danica Bonello Spiteri, the Maltese triathlon champion, has been selected by the London 2012 organisers to be part of the Olympic Games Medical Team in summer.

Bonello Spiteri, a doctor by profession who moved to the UK to specialise in Sport and Exercise Medicine, will be based at the ExCel Arena where boxing, fencing, judo, table-tennis, taekwondo and Paralympic events will be held among others.

Meanwhile, Bonello Spi-teri’s 2011 performances in the UK earned her two nomina-tions for the Leeds and Brad-ford Triathlon Club awards – Athlete of the Year and Single Performance of the Year for her first place in age group at the Outlaw Ironman.
