Double sprint world record-holder Usain Bolt, with a broad-range training plan looking ahead to the 2012 London Olympics, will not be changing his work regime even with rival Tyson Gay hurt.

Reigning 100m and 200m champion Bolt was a spectator for last weekend’s Jamaican national championships, his world titles ensuring his spot in the World Champion-ships in Daegu, South Korea, starting in late August.

While sympathetic to the hip and abductor injuries that forced Gay out of the US championship and world trials meet, Bolt expects plenty of pressure upon him from Jamaican rivals in defending his crowns.

“My schedule and build-up for the World Championship will not change,” Bolt said through a spokesman.

“I will not relax at all, as I know and expect strong challenges from even my own team-mates in Jamaica and the Caribbean.”

Bolt is training for Daegu but mindful of next year’s Olympic showdown in England.

“My programme even for this season is taking a broad look with London in mind,” Bolt said.

Gay was the only man to beat Bolt last year, what Bolt dubbed his “off year” with no world or Olympic crowns on offer. He has competed in only three races so far this season, aiming at the chance to defend his world titles.

Bolt watched as former world record-holder Asafa Powell won the Jamaican 100m crown in 10.08 seconds with Tohan Blake second on 10.09 and Steve Mullings third in a race contested into a headwind.
