Two men who stole plates, glasses and a few tools from boathouses in Marsaxlokk yesterday earned suspended jail terms.
Paul Tabone, 34, from Marsaxlokk and Shawn Galea, 18, from Marsascala admitted to stealing from four boathouses between July 19 and last Friday.
Lawyers Owen Bonnici and Yana Micallef Stafrace played down the gravity of the theft, adding that their clients had cooperated with the police during the investigations.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke, after taking into consideration their admission, jailed them for 18 months suspended for three years and warned them of the dire consequences should they step out of line again.
Police Inspectors Fabian Fleri and Priscilla Caruana prosecuted.
