In his letter Shame On Moderator (December 13) Anthony Borg mentions the European Parliament Office in Malta’s citizens’ forum Europe: Where Are We Heading? L-Ewropa: Fejn Sejrin? and claims that I addressed the forum in Engish despite being in a room with Maltese speakers and an entirely Maltese audience.

Mr Borg must have mistaken my identity since I spoke Maltese throughout the event, both in my introduction and even when moderating the discussion.

That said, that the European Parliament citizens’ forum would be bilingual was made clear from the outset: the forum was purposely publicised with a bilingual title, it was written in the programme that proceedings would be in both Maltese and English and it was also pointed out at the start that participants could make their remarks in whichever language they felt most comfortable speaking.
