Young Stars 1
Rabat 5

The game started quietly as both sides opted for caution.

In the 12th minute, Young Stars took the lead when Joseph Dalli broke through the middle and slid the ball past the Rabat goalkeeper.

The game followed the same pattern with no real clearcut chances created by both teams until the 25th minute when Kevin Micallef put Rabat on level terms with a crisp effort from just inside the top of the D.

Young Stars reacted, forcing two penalty corners in the 28th minute but to no avail.

Just before half-time Micallef scored again to fire Rabat 2-1 up after receiving a pass from Charlot Antonelli.

The second half saw the game turn on its head as Rabat struck three times between the 39th and 45th minute.

Shawn Falzon hit a brace to put Rabat 4-1 up. Antonelli added his name to the scoresheet by scoring the fifth, shooting home from the top of the D.

At that point the game was over as a contest as Rabat administered the proceedings to gain a deserved win.

Qormi 7
White Hart 2

A hard-fought first half saw Qormi break the deadlock in the eighth minute when Justin Bonello’s effort was deflected into goal off the goalkeeper’s stick.

White Hart regrouped and equalised in the 14th minute with a fine effort by Daniel Seifert.

The game ebbed and flowed with Qormi enjoying territorial advantage but being unable to make the most of five penalty corners awarded to them.

The second half proved to be a different story altogether.

Qormi forged ahead in the 40th minute when a Thomas Degiovanni pass from the right was met by Steve Tanti whose effort took a wicked deflection into the net.

Further Qormi pressure resulted in Juan Sarcia converting a penalty corner in style in the 50th minute.

Then the floodgates opened with John Williams grabbing a fourth for Qormi five minutes later. Tanti netted again soon after.

White Hart battled on gamely and Seifert got his second goal in the 60th minute to reduce the arrears to 5-2.

Qormi still continued to apply pressure with Degiovanni adding a sixth in the 56th minute and, on the stroke of time, Tanti was on target again for Qormi to complete a comprehensive 7-2 victory.

Umpires: Manuel Imbroll, James Mizzi.
